The Entraide Plus Community Center is looking for a passionate, organized, and dedicated Head Chef to oversee the production of frozen meals and meals at Resto-Entre for our clients.
This person will play a key role in developing our food offerings, while overseeing daily kitchen operations and collaborating with our team of volunteers and the assistant chef.
$25/hour salary
Main Responsibilities
Meal Planning and Preparation
- Develop varied, balanced menus tailored to the needs of seniors and people with reduced independence.
- Production of frozen meals for sale and home delivery.
- Prepare lunches (every Friday) and dinners according to customer needs.
- Ensure the quality, freshness, and nutritional value of meals.
- Perform or delegate the packaging, labeling, and order fulfillment for delivery.
Supply Chain Management
- Place food orders and track inventory.
- Build relationships with suppliers and seek out the best value-for-money options.
- Monitor inventory and reduce food waste.
- Verify that the received shipments are in compliance.
Supervision and Collaboration
- Welcome, support, and supervise volunteers working in the kitchen.
- Organize daily tasks effectively.
- Ensure that best practices for work safety and food safety are followed.
- Work with volunteer delivery drivers to ensure efficient meal distribution.
Food Safety and Security
- Comply with and ensure compliance with MAPAQ standards.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized work environment.
- Ensure that kitchen equipment is properly maintained and operates correctly.
Support for the Community Mission
- Help organize special meals and community events.
- Contribute to the development of new food initiatives.
- Actively contribute to promoting the mission of Entraide Plus.
Desired Qualifications
Qualifications
- A DEP in professional culinary arts or equivalent experience.
- At least three (3) years of relevant experience in commercial, institutional, or community kitchens.
- MAPAQ certification in food hygiene and safety, or a commitment to obtain it promptly.
- Experience supervising staff or volunteers (a plus).
- Good understanding of the nutritional needs of older adults (a significant asset).
